This spreadsheet activity helps to reinforce the power of compounding using a realistic principle and annual percentage rate (APR). Emphasis is placed on arriving at the same answer from three different perspectives (calculating a balance via iterations, using the algebraic formula, and taking advantage of the Excel built-in function ‘FV’).
