MGMT 321 Aviation/Aerospace Systems Analysis Methods Dataflow Diagram using Visio
Can you help me understand this Computer Science question?
Hello,
Here are the instructions for this assignment. Must have Visio to do this assignment. Thanks:
Practical Exercise: Context Diagram
A context diagram is a top-level Data Flow Diagram (DFD) which
presents the logical ‘big picture’ of the information system by defining
how the inventory management system interacts with External Entities.
The Context Diagram shows all the inputs and outputs that flow to and
from the sources and destinations, except for internal Data Stores.
You will utilize the data from the two Casual Format Use Cases that you created in Module 4 to create a Context Diagram.
Please note that despite the term, a Data Flow Diagram (DFD) does not focus on the data that is created, stored, and used in an information system. A Data Flow Diagram (DFD) portrays the processes and activities that the users undergo when utilizing an information system.
You will focus on the data modeling process later in Module 6 when you create Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).
Requirements
Create the Context Diagram utilizing Microsoft Visio®. Before you begin to work on this activity, review the tutorials presented in the Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio page and the Module 5 Readings and Resources page. These tutorials will help you understand how to create the Context Diagram. Refer to the Context Diagram example in the textbook.
To create the Context Diagram, utilize the Data Flow Model Diagram template located in the Software category in the Visio 2016 application Home page.
Be sure to select the DATA FLOW MODEL DIAGRAM template and NOT the Data Flow Diagram template. The two templates have very similar titles.
Your Context Diagram must address the following requirements:
- The inventory management system as the single, central Process (Processes are noun-related).
- A minimum of 3 External Entities (External Entities are noun-related).
- A minimum of 1 input data flow and 1 output data flow per External Entity (Data Flows are noun-related).
- Utilize Gane and Sarson symbols.
- Submit your Context Diagram in VSDX file format.
Note: No Data Stores should be presented in your Context diagram. Data Stores that reside ‘inside’ an information system are not presented in a Context Diagram.
