The Psychiatric technician assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions, and for the quality and extent of services perfomed.

Being accountable refers to providing an explanation to self, client/patient, employing agency and to the psychiatric technician profession. The Psychiatric may be held legally responsible for judgments or actions taken while providing care. Accountability reguires evaluation of the effectiveness of one’s performance.
